I had the batter dipped haddock with fries and enjoyed it. The people were friendly and the place was clean. One of the kitchen doors slammed every time someone went through it. That was annoying. Credit cards are not accepted which is bad for travelers. Too bad. I'd like to have been able to recommend this place.

Hometown family owned diner at it's best!! We've been coming to the PVR for many, many years and everything is always delicious. Their breakfast just can't be beat...fresh eggs, pancakes, bacon, sausage....and endless coffee. My absolute favorite breakfast is their chipped beef gravy over a Belgium waffle...WHAT???!!! Yes...your taste buds will think you died and went to yumtown!! Their homemade soups are wonderful...their sandwiches are generous and spot on. My favorite is the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes, all covered with gravy. You are not dieting when you come here. (although they do offer VERY nice salads!!) Desert??? If you have room left, indulge!!! Even if you don't have room left...share a piece of pie. You won't regret it. FYI...cash only!!! They do not accept credit cards.

For what it is, it's actually pretty good. Portions are huge, and the value for your dollar is definitely here. The servers are friendly, there were lots of specials to pick from and the menu covered pretty much anything you would want. I had the lasagna on special, and was blown away by how large it was. I also had some tasty cheeseburger soup. Overall I was pretty happy and the other three gentlemen I was with had no complaints either. The one thing everybody kept saying was wow that's a lot of food, so be prepared to take home leftovers. I had intentions of getting one of the many pie slice choices they had in a display case by our table, however I couldn't even finish the meal on my plate so I didn't get to try desert. Oh well, there's always next time ...

I have enjoyed this restaurant in the past, but today I tried to place an order for take out. It really surprised me when the female who answered the phone told me she was busy and really didn't have time to take my order! This is the type of employee that can ruin a good business.

This restaurant was a very welcome lunch break on a recent trip through Pennsylvania! It has a very quaint and homey-feeling, and the service and prices are just what you (might) expect for a family-run diner in the middle of the mountains. It seems to be a popular spot for hunters or skiers as they travel up-or-down the mountain for the weekend. Our service was stellar and the food was very tasty... and the prices almost felt like I stepped back into the 1980's! Great place all around.

So us hikers, after a long day, we may stink, and our technical clothes may not be the most fashionable, but we're usually great tippers. I left no tip at the Path Valley Family Restaurant, and I'd like to tell you why. 2 stars for the food. Very large portions. Taste, about average; better than Denny's, but nothing special. -1 stars for the service. From the time we finished eating, to the time our server reappeared to ask if we needed anything (like the check), 45 minutes. My coffee sat empty for more than an hour. I tried desperately to make eye contact with every employee that past by our table, each one looked away. No 'can I help you?' no, 'can I get your server?' No nothing. And I'd intended to get desert, too. Thanks for nothing. So when I get to the register to pay, I'd intended to leave a minimal tip of a buck, at the very least for the kitchen staff. "I'm sorry, we don't take cards". Hey, its 2013, you need a scarlet letter on the door if you don't take plastic. Even in the middle of Appalachia, WV, they take credit cards. I don't carry much cash when I hike, because it isn't water-resistant. So that tears it, I only had cash from my buddy who'd given it to me for gas., otherwise, I'd be washing dishes I left the change (20 cents), but that's it. You'd think, with a Tuscarora trailhead within spitting distance, this place would be hiker friendly. Not so much.

After hours of driving while relocating our family from Ohio to New Jersey, this was a welcome stop along the way. The folks working at this restaurant could not have been nicer. The service was good and the food hit the spot. Nothing fancy, just good home-cooked style food. Save room for some pie!

This is a gem placed among the rural byways. A Mennonite run restaurant it serves a range of fare that it all does well. Our group of twelve was served promptly, graciously and with great congeniality. I had the prime rib: it was fixed perfectly and their was plenty there. As an aside my side of fries was excellent. Others had turkey, spaghetti and other dishes that were well received.

Off the beaten path near a disel station is this little gem of home like cooking. After enough gross road food I opted for this quaint restaurant and ordered a hot turkey sandwich imagining a few slices of dry turkey placed in a press to warm up. I couldnt have been more wrong. Suddenly before me was a steaming plate of both dark and light turkey pilled high between two slices of white bread completely covered in gravy with yummy fries on the side. Straight thanksgiving left over style. Couldnt come close to finishing my meal. My bf got the meatball sub which he scarffed down with the enthusiasm of a starved hound. As you can imagine he claimed it delicious. When we asked for recomendations both friendly waitresses stated, "everythings good". In my experience they were right.

Path Valley Family Restaurant, what an enjoyable stop every time on my way to the mountains. I have been coming to this place since I was a kid. I was impressed by their honey deep fried chicken, and those tasty fries! Good to know that after all of these years, the quality is still awesome, prices are reasonable and the wait staff is funny. Will return!

I drove by this place on business -- hard to believe considering Dry Run is pretty much in the middle of nowhere -- and thought I'd check with coworkers who'd eaten here before. They said it was good. Being a sucker for small restaurants and diners, especially in the middle of nowhere, me and a buddy took a motorcycle trip from Harrisburg out the backroads and up and over the mountains and stopped at the Path Valley Family Restaurant for lunch and to warm up. What a great little place !! The coffee was fantastic with top-offs poured frequently. I got a reuben sandwich which was good corned beef -- not stringy or fatty at all. And my buddy got a turkey wrap which he said was great. Our food was ready in no time, the server was attentive and friendly, the restaurant was clean and the bill very reasonable. Next time I ride out to the mountains or I'm in town on business, I plan to stop and have a meal. Thanks !!

Home cooked food in Amish fashion. The broasted chicken is very good (crispy, but not greasy). The meatloaf is delicious! The mashed potatoes may be instant, but you can skip 'em. The place is dirt cheap and very tasty. The desserts are homemade (except the cheesecake - try the lemon merengue or coconut cream - yum yum!) A tasty treat about 4 miles off exit 189 on the penna turnpike. Definitely worth the mileage for delicious food when your other option is Wendy's or bob evans. Try it! (cash only!)
